Like the majority of other high volume routine biomarkers the new NGAL test from BioPorto is based on the principle of turbidimetry, recognized to combine high diagnostic performance with fast turnaround time and therefore implicitly addressing the acute aspect of NGAL evaluation.

Dog NGAL ELISA Kit (KIT 043)
BioPorto Diagnostics is happy to announce the launch of an ELISA kit for the detection of NGAL (neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, lipocalin 2, siderocalin) in dogs.
The Dog NGAL ELISA Kit (KIT 043) can be used to measure NGAL in urine, plasma, serum, tissue extracts or culture media. The kit is offered for research use only.
NGAL is the earliest responding biomarker for acute kidney injury (AKI) in humans and has also shown promise in rodent models. Dogs provide additional information in the study of kidney function, surgical procedures and treatment in relation to human disease, and canine studies continue to be important in drug development.
Dog NGAL measurements can potentially be used to determine efficacy in the development of new treatments for kidney damage, in safety studies to detect nephrotoxic side effects and for basic science research on kidney injury and kidney diseases.

NGAL levels rise rapidly after renal injury and have been used in a variety of clinical situations including intensive care, emergency medicine, renal transplantation and procedures involving the use of i.v. contrast media and other nephrotoxic agents.
Our CE-IVD-marked NGAL Rapid ELISA Kit measures human NGAL in urine, plasma or serum.
The positive predictive value for acute renal failure is over 90%.
